Projetos

  • PTDC/CVT-CVT/31840/2017 - Programming the type and localization of adaptive immunity by targeting TLR2: a strategy for the development of novel veterinary vaccines. PI Alexandre Leitão, FCT funding 239,999 €. (2018-2021).

In the last years our group established a cloning system in E. coli for the production of antigens in fusion with a TLR2 ligand, the OprI lipoprotein from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In this project, the OprI system will be employed to understand how TLR2 engagement, combined with other innate stimuli, can be used for polarization of immune responses and imprinting of specific immunity tropism towards mucosae and skin.

EXPL/CVT-EPI/1945/2013 - Mob1 protein: a critical factor in Toxoplasma gondii replication. PI: Sofia Nolasco. Partners: Fundação da Faculdade de Ciências-ULisboa, IICT/MNE. FCT Funding 49,049 €. (2014 –2015).

PTDC/CVT-EPI/3460/2012. - Let’s make them fall: A genomic, proteomic and immuno-histologic approach on the involution of tick aggregation cement. Funding FCT: 165 000€.

This project aims at studying the involution of tick cement composition occurring on the final “feeding” stages of this parasite upon its host leading to the synthesis of a “antibody” or a vaccine introduced in the host, capable of inhibiting or decreasing cement preservation and inducing tick precocious fall out interrupting it’s life cycle, thus severely impairing its survival and reproduction.

PTDC/CVT/113889/2009 - Modulation of acquired immunity by bacterial cell wall-derived formulations containing heterologous antigens expressed by a new OprI based system. PI: Dulce Santos, FCT Funding 166,411 €. (2011 – 2014).

PTDC/CVT/105470/2008 - The katanin role in Mt cytoskeleton remodeling during host cell invasion by Toxoplasma gondii. PI: Sofia Nolasco. Principal Contractor: Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência. Partners: Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical. 199,923 €. (2010 – 2013).

PTDC/CVT/116499/2010. - Lactation and milk production in Goat (Capra hircus): identifying molecular markers underlying adaptation to seasonal weight loss. PI: André Almeida (IICT/CIISA). Partners: IICT, CIMAR, FMV, ICIA, ITQB. Funding FCT: 141,403.00 €.

This project aims to understand the molecular mechanisms behind adaptation to nutritional stress in dairy goats. It consists on a systems biology (Proteomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics) study on the mammary gland of two goat breeds from the canary islands with different levels of adaptation to nutritional stress. With thos project we will establish biomarkers of tolernace to Seasonal weight loss in goats, of use in selection programs in small ruminants.

PRIME-XS project. - The sheep (Ovis aries) muscle proteome: decoding the mechanisms of tolerance to seasonal weight loss. Funding PRIME-XS consortium (7th Framework Program): 20 000€.

This project aims to understand the effect of weight loss on the sheep muscle proteome using high-throughput proteomics methodology

PRIME-XS project - Unraveling grain filling mechanism in Phaseolus vulgaris L. under water stress: a proteomics approach. Funding PRIME-XS consortium (7th Framework Program): 20 000€.

This project aims to understand the effect of water withdrawal on the grain filling mechanisms in beans using a high-throughput proteomics approach.

PRIME-XS project. - Pasture based vs. industrial beef production meat proteome. Funding PRIME-XS consortium (7th Framework Program): 20 000€

This project aims to understand the effect of feeding methodology (extensive/pasture based vs concentrate finishing) on the beef-cattle muscle proteome using high-throughput proteomics methodology

COST FA1308 – Dairycare. André Almeida is member of the Management Committee. Estimated Budget: 600,000€.

European networking project on dairy production and welfare

COST TD1101 – A collaborative European Network on Rabbit Genome Biology (RGB-Net). André Almeida is member of the Management Committee. Estimated Budget: 450,000€.

An European networking project on rabbit sequencing and post-genomic tools

PTDC/AGR-GPL/110244/2009. - Deciphering grain filling mechanisms in Phaseolus vulgaris L. under water deficit. PI: Susana Araujo (IICT), Partners: IICT; FFC/FC/UL; ITQB/UNL. Funding FCT, 189,000 €. (2010-2014).

AGL2013-44061-R. - Bioclimate effect in sheep and goats: response levels, sensor development and new control strategies. PI: Ahmed Salama (Fac. Vet. - Autonomous Univ. Barcelona). Funding Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness: 150 000€. Period: 2015-2017.

441.00 ESLOVAQUIA. - Study of the evasion strategies of the complement system in Borrelia and Francisella. Bilateral Science and Technology Cooperation Portugal –Slovakia. PI: Ana Coelho (ITQB/UNL).  Funding FCT: 6 000€. Period: 2011-2012.
